Fanfiction

Anime

  • Akabeko Fanfiction - A Ruroni Kenshin site with some really good fanfiction.
  • Anipike - The Anime Web Turnpike.
  • Fanfiction.net - The one of largest collection of fanfiction anywhere on the internet. This is a link to the anime section.
  • Kaiphantom's Fanfiction - I did some beta reading for this guy. He has some pretty good Ranma 1/2 fanfiction.
  • RK Dreams - I love this woman's Kenshin fanfics. I've beta-read for her a couple of times, and let me tell you, her stuff is fantastic. The forums seem to be dead, though.
  • Twoflower's Fiction - This guy is responsible for the best work of English Slayers Fanfiction ever written. I'm not kidding. All of his writing is superior. I highly recommend the Slayers Trilogy and Unreal Estate.

Harry Potter

  • Fiction Alley - A pretty good sized Harry Potter fanfiction archive, with a good forum community.
  • Fanfiction.net - The Harry Potter section of ff.net. You can sort fics by rating, length, and characters. Beware: there's no quality control.
  • The Sugar Quill - A good HP fanfic archive, with lots of Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny Fanfics. No Harry/Hermione here, sorry.
  • Checkmated - More R/Hr fanfiction here. Also some H/G, and even a little bit of D/G.
  • The Harry Potter Lexicon - If you want to write your own fanfiction, this is the best place to start looking for information (short of going through the books with a few thousand post-it notes).
  • PhoenixSong.net - An H/G Fanfiction archive, with nifty forums. The successor to Gryffindor Tower (may it rest in peace).
  • Sink Into Your Eyes - SIYE is another H/G fanfiction archive, but doesn't have quite the quality control that PS.net does. It still has some good fics, though.

Computer

Web Design

  • The CSS Zen Garden - A demonstration of what CSS can really accomplish. An excellent site for learning CSS by example.
  • PHP.net - PHP is a server-side scripting language for developing web sites. It's like ASP, but free. The manual is a great resource for developers.
  • Template Power - The PHP template engine helping to drive this site.

News

  • Ace's Hardware Site - Looking for real, in-depth analysis of the latest computer hardware? This site has some of the best reviews. And if they get anything wrong, it's sure to be corrected in the forums.
  • Anandtech - A pretty good review site. Recommended.
  • Tom's Hardware - A good review site. Not quite as good as Anandtech, but very good nonetheless.
  • GROKLAW - Interested in the latest SCO vs. Linux news? This is the place to go.
  • The Register - What can I say about this site? It's got a definite bias, but it's a whole lot of fun!
  • IGN - I know a lot of people don't like this site since it's gone subscription, but I thought I'd link it anyway.
  • Mozillazine - For the latest Mozilla web browser news.

Miscellaneous

Web Comics

  • College Roomies from Hell - My favorite online comic. Written by Maritza Campos, it tells the story of six college students as they struggle with love, life, mutations, and calculus tests.
  • Sluggy Freelance - This is Pete's comic. Is it not nifty? Yes, yes it is.
  • El Goonish Shive - Mutations, aliens, transmogrifying rays, and Female Variant #5. Wacky and entertaining.
  • It's Walky! - A nifty comic about a bunch of people who were abducted by aliens, and now have jobs trying to fight said aliens.
